The Canon EOS R100 is a True Replacement for the Rebel and EOS M

Canon has announced the EOS R100, a compact APS-C mirrorless camera that is designed to appeal to first-time photographers or those who currently enjoy its Rebel DSLRs or EOS M cameras but want to move to the RF mount.

The R100 uses a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sized sensor, is powered by the DIGIC 8 processor, and is able to capture cropped 4K video and full-width 1080p Full HD video at up to 24 and 60 frames per second, respectively.

Outside of that video mode, the R100 features autofocus with face and eye detection as well as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The R100 doesn’t feature any articulation options when it comes to the three-inch, 1.04 million dot rear LCD. It should also be noted that the rear LCD is not touch sensitive either and must be navigated using button controls.

On the right side of the camera, photographers will find a USB terminal as well as a micro HDMI port. On the left side of the camera there is a microphone jack and a port for an intervalometer.

The EOS R100 is compatible with the complete lineup of RF and RF-S lenses, and EF and EF-S lenses can be utilized when using one of three available Canon EF-EOS R mount adapters.
