Tips to Protect Your Images While Travelling

From the last decade, Travel photography has changed dramatically. These days everyone has a camera to capture the various sites they go. It was not very easy before to take the pictures as now almost everyone has a smartphone which can help you to take pictures when you go on a trip. And all the pictures you clicked while traveling are very important and you don’t want to lose them. So, in this series, I’m sharing some tips to protect your pictures while traveling.

Format Memory Cards

Before using cards for a new trip, delete all previous data of memory cards to make sure that the cards are ready completely and have enough space. But before formatting the cards, take the backups of all the previous data in the memory card or your hard disks or computers.

Use Multiple Memory Cards

Don’t use only one memory card for your trip. It is better for you to take multiple cards with you as if you lost one, you at least have a portion of your images left still.

Take Extra Batteries With You

It is good if you take extra batteries with you while traveling as batteries can break and it can ruin your trip if you are going specially to take pictures. So, don’t forget to take extra batteries with you.

Make Backups

After returning to your hotel, backup all the pictures to different places. It is very safe, and you cannot lose your images if you have backups. And if you don’t have multiple memory cards, it can help you as you can delete some of your pictures in case of full memory.

Write Contact Info

Don’t forget to write your email and phone number on all your memory cards, hard drives, and laptops as if you lose anything someone can contact you through this information.

Use Cloud Storage

You can upload your images to various sites like Google Drive,, Dropbox, Carbonite, etc. All these are very inexpensive, and you can upload all your images very easily. The only thing you need to upload your pictures is that your internet speed must be good.

These are some great tips to protect your pictures while traveling and if you have any other tips you can share in comments.
